Job description

Emergency Road Assistance Dispatchers 
 
Austin Staffing, Inc. is now accepting resumes for TMC Operators who have experience providing emergency roadside assistance with various personnel.
Jobs will be based in Central Austin.
  TMC Operators: $22-$29hr.
   Leads:                    $28-$31hr.
 
Minimum one year experience within the last three years in the services identified in the statement of work.
 
Have a minimum of three years work experience in any of the following; related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis, proven analysis experience in freeway management system, concepts and operations, traffic, flow principles and procedures Electrical/Electronic and design procedures Applicable, TMC related computer applications and operations and implementing emergency response procedures, working a high pace high-pressure environment, prioritize task, providing customer service and using excellent communication skills via radio phone and email.
 
Complete TI am training FCC 10 codes radio and other TXDOT mandatory training.
 
Have knowledge and skills to utilize and operate IT software web based and software applications as well as utility programs to manage and monitor IT field devices.
 
Use IT software to control and monitor field devices such as close circuit, TV cameras, DMS, WWDS and any other technology related to devices that may be implemented as part of the IT services.
 
Monitor video images for the detection and verification of crashes debris, abandoned, or disabled vehicles, hazardous or non-hazardous spills.
 
Use IT software to log potential and confirmed incidents, construction, and maintenance closures.
 
Log time-based components of the incident timeline for TIM performance measures consistently across all roadways.
 
Monitor IT software system generated response plans, and accept or manually override them as necessary.
 
Compose clear and concise sentences that include all pertinent information without spelling or grammatical errors.
 
Use radio telephone and email to communicate with TXDOT personnel statewide, including; maintenance and construction personnel, IT software technicians, TXDOT management department of safety, and Federal Highway administration as appropriate regarding incident, traffic road conditions, maintenance construction activity, and related weather conditions.
 
Dispatch and communicate with All incident management personnel via radio, email, telephone or computerized aid dispatch using standard protocol to the locations of road hazards and crashes. Provide clear direction to the location and an accurate description of an incident as advertised by citizens, public safety entities, department personnel, or IT software.

Provide information or assistance to motorist TXDOT Personnel or other agencies on traffic and road conditions. Direct calls to appropriate personnel in traffic operations or take necessary action.
 
Update messages on TXDOT ATMS once activated.
 
Answer all after hour calls for the TXDOT Austin District, documenting communication and dispatching the necessary personnel.
 
Perform all duties with the highest level of customer service.
 
Be prepared to work additional hours or shifts in support of weather and special events.
 
Use radio, telephone, and emails to communicate with TXDOT, law-enforcement, EMS fire department or towing services to provide clear and accurate information regarding incidents and response required.
 
Ensure that all radio communications are in compliance with TXDOTNFC radio protocol using the proper 10 codes.
