Job description

**Travel Required**

Summary: 

Load and transport oversized loads of equipment and supplies to various job sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Check transport vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and in accordance with DOT requirements.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and/or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.
  • Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, earth moving equipment, general construction and forestry machinery, or other materials.
  • Ability to understand and comply with safety considerations as set herein and others required for the position.

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL Driver's license and medical certification
  • Practice good safety habits from company and as required under Federal and State DOT
  • Must be able to read road maps and work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards
  • Maintains visibility with operator throughout course of loading and unloading trailer
  • Have good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction)
  • Frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Routine climbing into/out of equipment while maintaining 3 points of contact
  • Follows Company and FDOT safety requirements in performance of duties

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma preferred and one year related experience. 
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement. Must have a clean driver record.
