Job description

American farmers have made tremendous technology advancements through hardware improvements and investments in precision agriculture. However, when it comes to the back-office, most farms are decades behind, relying on spreadsheets, filing cabinets, and decades-old on-prem software to recruit, manage, and pay their workforce. Seso is addressing this problem by modernizing the back-office for the farm.
Our mission is to build the premier platform for agribusiness to hire and manage their workforce and improve the lives of agricultural workers. We are addressing American farmers' biggest pain point - access to qualified labor - through a software-enabled labor solution that automates the H-2A visa. Our comprehensive HR platform streamlines and automates the hiring process for farms and seamlessly integrates their efforts across recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and insurance while providing workers access to financial services for the first time.
Seso has raised over $60M from Tier I investors including Index, Founders Fund, and Mary Meeker at Bond, and has been recognized with awards including Forbes Rising Stars and Andreessen Horowitz's American Dynamism 50.

About the Engagement
Seso is engaging an experienced P&C insurance broker on a 1099 contract basis to support our fast-growing insurance program. Working alongside our Account Executives and licensed brokers, you'll integrate insurance solutions into Seso's product offering and support prospects and customers through the application, quoting, and binding process. Your expertise in workers compensation and other P&C lines will help shape outcomes for clients in the agriculture vertical.
This engagement is well suited for an independent insurance professional who wants flexibility, meaningful deal flow, and exposure to a high-growth, venture-backed tech company without the structure of full-time employment.
Scope of Work
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to support insurance sales as part of Seso's overall product offering.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Seso's workers compensation program during sales calls with prospects and existing customers.
  • Manage insurance production activities throughout the application, quote, proposal, and binding process.
  • Maintain relationships with underwriters to secure competitive terms for clients.
  • Process endorsement requests and ensure timely, accurate policy updates.
  • Support clients with claims, including guidance on completing claims forms and navigating the claims process.
  • Support policy renewals through proactive service and communication.
  • Process client requests for certificates of insurance, endorsements, and other policy-service inquiries.
  • Log activity in Seso's systems for accurate records.

Qualifications
  • Active P&C insurance broker license in good standing (contractor maintains license and continuing education independently)
  • 5+ years of P&C brokerage experience with strong command of workers compensation coverage, exposures, and markets
  • Demonstrated knowledge of core insurance principles and structures, with ability to explain them to clients
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Familiarity with Applied Epic / EZLynx and Salesforce CRM
  • Active Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance coverage
  • Spanish fluency a plus
  • Prior agriculture industry experience a plus
  • Prior tech industry experience a plus

Engagement Terms
  • Classification: Independent contractor (1099). Not an employee; not eligible for Seso employee benefits, equity, PTO, or other employment-related considerations.
  • Compensation: Hourly, paid on an invoiced basis. Rate commensurate with experience.
  • Expected hours: Flexible, with scope and timing set by mutual agreement. Contractor is free to engage with other clients.
  • Term: Initial fixed-term engagement with option to renew based on mutual fit and ongoing business need.
  • Schedule and method: Contractor sets own working hours and methods, subject to reasonable responsiveness to clients and Seso colleagues.
  • Equipment: Contractor provides own workspace and equipment. Seso provides access to required systems (Salesforce, Applied Epic / EZLynx) during the term.
  • Taxes: Contractor is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes. Seso will issue a Form 1099-NEC annually.
  • Confidentiality & IP: Standard confidentiality, IP assignment, and non-solicitation terms apply under Seso's Consulting Agreement, executed prior to start.

Diversity is more than a commitment at Seso, it is the foundation of what we do. We pride ourselves on building the premier platform that serves agribusiness and improves the lives of agricultural workers. We believe in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other fascinating characteristics that make us all feel welcome.
