Job description

Supports the implementation of community engagement strategies with a specialized focus on faith-based communities. Serves as a frontline ambassador for LiveOnNY, cultivating relationships with faith leaders and congregations to advance organ, eye, and tissue donation awareness. This role combines outreach expertise with cultural sensitivity, ensuring programs reflect organizational priorities and foster trust within diverse religious communities. The Fatih-Based Community Liaison is expected to adhere to all organizational policies and applicable regulatory obligations, stewardship of resources, confidentiality, and ethical conduct, and to devote all professional time to the performance of the responsibilities of this job description and remain available to fulfill management responsibilities inside and outside standard business hours as LiveOnNY’s needs dictate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Execute grassroots engagement activities targeting faith communities, including presentations, interfaith forums, and events at houses of worship.
  • Deliver culturally and religiously appropriate educational programs that promote donation awareness.
  •  Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with faith leaders, congregations, and interfaith organizations to support departmental initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between LiveOnNY and faith-based partners, reinforcing organizational messaging and values.
  • Assist in planning and logistics for faith-focused outreach programs and events.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create educational resources tailored to faith communities.
  •  Work closely with supervisors and other team members to ensure consistent delivery of outreach strategies.
  • Provide feedback from faith-based engagements to inform program improvements and future planning.
  •  The ability and willingness to travel and work outside of normal business office hours is required.
  •  This role may also be expected to assist Family Support Advocates on an as-needed basis. Assistance entails providing onsite response to advocate for donation and to support families through the organ and tissue donation process. Initiates timely donation conversation with families either in person or telephonically and in collaboration with hospital partners.

  •  Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to three years of related experience in community organizing and faith-based relationship building required. 
  • Experience in healthcare and/or patient navigation preferred.
  • Experience working with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious affiliations, sexual orientations, and gender identities strongly preferred.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write simple communications and documents. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, the general public, and management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
