Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Plan, schedule and release manufactured and purchased parts and assemblies in an efficient manner while supporting company objectives regarding inventory, sales volume, product cost, scheduling and customer demands.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Approve, release and monitor status of production and purchase requisitions.
• Develop and provide input to Manufacturing build plan.
• Develop priorities and communicate support functions while taking an active role in problem resolution as required.
• Coordinate with all shop departments to ensure proper inventory levels - maintain knowledge of plant operations and equipment design in order to plan properly.
• Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
• Periodically review non-conformances and engineering changes to rework any work orders as required.
• Regularly update work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors.
• Keep Planning manager aware about applicable changes that would affect the lead time of the part so that the system can be kept up-to-date.
• Regularly monitor and update safety stock levels in the system when necessary.
• Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor delivery of work orders to ensure timely completion.
• Review material shortages with and resolve discrepancies between CPO material plans and actual manufacturing needs with Engineering.
• Monitor purchase order deliveries to ensure on-time delivery.
• Assist in timely definition of part number attributes during the item master set-up process, update relevant data as needed. (i.e. analyst codes and lead times are up to date).
• Review Engineering BOM and verify matches with work order BOM.
• Recommend material substitutions to overcome materials shortages and / or consume on-hand inventory.
• Release MIT kits for shipment as required.
• Review Quality Plans and 3rd Party Certification as required.
• Create Shop packets including; router, assembly/machine/weld drawings, SOP's, MTR's, weld/coating specifications.
• Submit JIRA request to warehouse for material pull, issue to work order and deliver to appropriate staging area.
• Analyze work order variances, document and action for resolution. Submit approval for WO closure report to QC - Mini MRB team.
• Review reports of Engineering Change Notices and Non-conformance and adjust plans as necessary to accommodate.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years' experience in inventory control and planning.
• APICS CPIM certification desired.
• Experience planning in an Engineered-to-Order or Make-to-Order manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with ERP Planning preferred. (Oracle experience preferable but other ERP experience will be considered)
• Deep understanding of MRPII planning levels, processes and tools preferred.
• Strong understanding of the supply chain.
