Program Director - Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center - Lakewood Ranch, FL

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is excited to announce the development of a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program, scheduled to welcome its first class in July 2027. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Program Director to lead the ACGME application process and build a premier training environment on Florida's West Coast.

This is a unique opportunity to design and grow a high-quality academic program within a thriving, rapidly expanding community. The residency will be based at our 190-bed community hospital-recognized for excellence in CMS quality metrics, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.

We are seeking a collaborative clinician-educator with:

  • A passion for resident education
  • A strong background in graduate medical education
  • At least three years of leadership experience within an ACGME-accredited program

The role will begin as a consulting position during the accreditation process and transition to a .5 FTE Program Director role upon program approval, with the remaining FTE dedicated to clinical Emergency Medicine practice.

Candidate Requirements

  • Board certification in ABEM or AOBEM
  • Minimum 3 years of recent educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited residency
  • Prior Program Director or Associate Program Director experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, curriculum development, and scholarly activity.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and administrative skills
