Overtown Youth Center (OYC Miami) is seeking a committed and caring Honey Shine Summer Program Teacher (Part-Time) to support our Summer Program at our Coconut Grove location: 3747 Main Highway Miami, FL 33133.  

This role is responsible for the care, development, and education of children enrolled in our center. As a Teacher for our Honey Shine program, you will plan, supervise, and implement daily curriculum, creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students of various ages.

What You Would Do:

  • Act as a liaison between Overtown Youth Center and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (DCPS).
  • Teach all subject areas to students of various age groups, adapting lessons to their diverse learning needs.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise classroom activities, developing lesson plans and educational activities to foster student growth.
  • Document student progress, including attendance, test scores, graduation rates, and other key milestones.
  • Assist in organizing and chaperoning field trips and exposure activities to expand learning beyond the classroom.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and paraprofessionals to ensure students' success and well-being.
  • Provide supervision during dismissal, including bus duties, as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with students, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the lead teacher to discuss student progress and program development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development workshops and training to continue growing as an educator.
  • Contribute to the quality improvement process to enhance the overall effectiveness of the program.

Requirements

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for a skilled, compassionate Teacher with the following qualifications:

  • Certified Teacher Certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree in education or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working with youth programs.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Ability to work well with students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and Level 2 background check.
