Job description

Internship Overview

The 2027 Summer Internship Program offers hands-on experience across both construction (field, project management, and preconstruction) and select corporate support departments (such as Human Resources, IT, and Marketing). Additional internship opportunities may be available throughout the academic year based on business needs.

Job Summary

This internship position is responsible for assisting various departments within CPPI with daily tasks while gaining exposure to the overall operations of the construction industry. A range of activities that an intern may experience includes:

  • Observing and/or interacting with various professionals related to the construction field, including owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Attending staff and departmental meetings as needed and on an ongoing basis, as well as any appropriate management or coordination meetings.
  • Completing, updating, and distributing project management communications of various types, such as purchase orders, safety inspections, material and labor logs, inventory, and meeting minutes as needed.
  • Assisting with the overall project management responsibilities, including account management, billing, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and coordination of subcontractors and vendors as needed.
  • Assist estimators on various aspects of the bid process. Learn how to gather all the necessary information for a project and compile a bid under the direction of the Chief Estimator, with the opportunity to bid on projects independently.
  • Daily activities are conducted to promote the company's vision, mission, and core values.

Minimum Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction, or related.
  • Prior construction-related internships or work experience is strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate would have a strong desire to expand their base knowledge of commercial projects as well as to increase exposure to new areas of the business.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Work hours will be consistent with working in the Construction industry.

Job Responsibilities

  • The right candidate will assist the Construction Manager and Superintendents with the management of all functions of the job site as it relates to construction, including but not limited to scheduling and supervising the job site.
  • Help to ensure on-site safety as well as compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Learn how to estimate costs, solicit bids, create schedules, etc.
  • Explore other areas of interest to learn more about the general operations of the division, both within and outside of the assigned department, which will be supplemental to the learning experience.
  • Provide basic administrative support, assist other supervisors as directed, and help with special projects as needed.
  • Conduct all business professionally and ethically to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
