Job Title: Staff Accountant

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the organization through accurate accounting practices, reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger management. This role is responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, supporting audit and month-end processes, managing credit card and purchase order activity, and ensuring integrity in financial reporting. The Staff Accountant demonstrates strong attention to detail, integrity, stewardship, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Key Area: Accounting Operations and Financial Management

  • Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries for monthly and annual close processes
  • Post and manage transactions between Ramp and Financial Edge software
  • Maintain purchase orders and support day-to-day accounting functions
  • Review credit card activity for accuracy and proper coding

Key Area: Financial Reporting, Compliance, and Audit Support

  • Prepare schedules and gather supporting documentation for external audits
  • Develop and prepare project and financial reports as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records through review and analysis
  • Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as directed by leadership
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold strong ethical and stewardship standards in handling financial data

This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting.ย  This position has no direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or HSE required
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or 5+ years of equivalent experience in accounting is required
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, web-based accounting and accounts payable

Technical/Software Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Financial Edge accounting and Ramp software strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Other Requirements for Employment

  • Full-time 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • On-site for the first 90 days; hybrid eligibility may follow based on performance and business needs
  • Travel may be required and is primarily local during a business day with travel to WM Bloomington facilities as needed.
