Development & Administrative Assistant

The Development & Administrative Assistant is a full-time remote position dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children. The mission of Rise Alliance for Children is to educate, heal, and empower children by embedding trauma-informed, play-based programs in communities across the globe.

This role plays a key supporting function across both fundraising and organizational operations. The Development & Administrative Assistant reports to the Executive Director and also works closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Program Officer (CPO) to support donor engagement, data management, event coordination, and cross-functional organizational priorities.

This is a fully remote position for an individual based in South Africa, who will be technically employed by our local partner there. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in South Africa and must not require visa sponsorship or a work permit now or in the future. Candidate should ideally already have a valid South African passport, or at minimum a valid South African ID and willingness to apply for an international passport.

The position requires operating on Eastern Standard Time (EST) morning hours to maximize overlap with the US-based team, with occasional travel required for key organizational moments. Exact working hours can be discussed in the interview stage to work out best for both parties.

In This Role You Will:

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Executive Director, senior leadership team, and board of directors, including scheduling, materials, meeting minutes and follow-up required.
  • Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accuracy and strong data hygiene.
  • Help to fully utilize the features in the CRM to maximize effectiveness.
  • Support tracking of donation revenue and progress toward fundraising goals.
  • Generate reports from the CRM and assist in organizing key data and insights.
  • Prepare and send donor communications, including acknowledgments and thank-you letters.
  • Support donor stewardship efforts to ensure timely and thoughtful engagement.
  • Conduct preliminary research on foundations and assist with proposal and report preparation. Update and maintain grant tracking documents.
  • Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events.
  • Support internal operations and cross-functional initiatives including monitoring and tracking employee expenses within the organization's expense management platform, and providing support for annual audit preparation and documentation.
  • Take ownership of assigned processes and ensure high-quality execution.

An Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including English fluency
  • Comfort working with data and maintaining accurate records
  • High level of discretion and ability to comfortably manage up
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common AI tools
  • Previous CRM experience
  • Previous event planning and support
  • Proactive, resourceful, and eager to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated alignment with the mission of Rise Alliance for Children
  • Additional language skills are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary band for this position is 16K – 28K South African Rand (ZAR) per month. As needed, a monthly internet stipend is also available. Exact compensation and the full benefits package will be determined based on the candidate's professional experience and qualifications.
