Job description

General Summary

Serves as a senior Human Resources (HR) consultant and subject matter expert supporting employee relations for employed physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) within the Medical Group. Manages complex provider workplace issues, conducts and supports investigations, advises leaders on performance and conduct matters, and ensures fair, consistent, and timely resolution of provider-related concerns. Works closely with Medical Group leadership, Legal, Compliance, Provider Compensation, and HR partners to address sensitive provider situations while balancing organizational standards, provider experience, and legal defensibility.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 7 years of progressive HR experience with significant employee relations and investigations experience; Experience supporting physicians and/or advanced practice providers Required
  • Experience in a large healthcare system or medical group Preferred

Courses and Training:

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Upon Hire Preferred or
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Upon Hire Preferred or
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Upon Hire Preferred or
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) Upon Hire Preferred

Duties and Responsibilities
Remote Work Capable
Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary HR advisor for physician and APP employee relations matters, including performance concerns, professionalism issues, grievances, complaints, conflicts, and workplace conduct issues.
  • Leads or supports workplace investigations involving providers, including allegations of misconduct, behavioral issues, policy violations, and professionalism concerns.
  • Provides guidance on progressive discipline, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and documentation standards.
  • Conducts interviews, gathers documentation, analyzes findings, and prepares investigation summaries and recommendations.
  • Ensures investigations and corrective actions are timely, thorough, confidential, and defensible.
  • Partners with Legal on complex provider relations matters.
  • Collaborates with Provider Compensation when employee relations actions intersect with compensation or contract terms.
  • Ensures consistent application of HR policies, Medical Group standards, and employment agreements.
  • Tracks provider relations activity and trends; provide insights to leadership.
  • Provides training and tools for leaders on provider performance management and investigations.
