Job Description

Position Summary 

The Senior EPC Project Controller reports directly to the Project Leadership team, serving as a pivotal leader in the delivery of project controls for complex Engineering only and EPCM projects. This position provides essential subject matter expertise and strategic advisory, guiding all aspects of project control, including cost, schedule, and performance management, to ensure robust governance, forecast credibility, and compliance with contractual and client requirements. As a key member of the team, the Senior EPC Project Controller champions data-driven decision-making, proactively identifies risks and opportunities, and implements best practices in earned value management and change control. By collaborating closely with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction functions, the role drives alignment and consistency across project controls, contributing to the successful execution and delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Establish, validate, and maintain integrated cost, schedule, and earned value baselines aligned with contractual and client requirements. 

  • Develop and operate Earned Value Management processes, including SPI/CPI analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting. 

  • Provide independent challenge of forecasts, trends, and productivity assumptions to ensure reliable Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) reporting. 

  • Analyze cost and schedule performance, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions. 

  • Integrate procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals into project financial controls and reporting. 

  • Coordinate with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment across project controls. 

  • Establish and oversee physical progress measurement methodologies in coordination with construction and field teams. 

  • Manage project change control, including quantification of cost and schedule impacts for internal and client reporting. 

  • Support contract administration activities, including change management, risk events, and claims avoidance or substantiation. 

  • Develop dashboards, progress reports, and KPI scorecards for leadership and client stakeholders. 

  • Ensure compliance with Ramboll's project governance standards, financial controls, and client requirements. 

  • Serve as a project controls subject matter expert, mentoring project staff and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. 

What Success Looks Like in 12-18 Months 

  • Project leadership has confidence in cost and schedule forecasts, with transparent and reliable EAC reporting supporting decision-making. 

  • Integrated cost, schedule, procurement, and construction progress baselines are fully established and consistently maintained. 

  • Earned value and performance reporting processes are operating smoothly with actionable variance and trend analysis. 

  • Procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals are accurately reflected and aligned with contract requirements. 

  • Change and risk impacts are quantified promptly and support effective contract administration and client reporting. 

  • Construction progress measurement methodologies are validated and trusted by project teams and leadership. 

  • The Project Controller is recognized as a trusted advisor to the Project Manager and client. 

  • Project controls systems, data quality, and standards show measurable improvement through continuous improvement and mentoring. 

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or financial analysis within EPC or EPCM environments. 

  • Demonstrated experience operating as a senior project controls advisor within integrated project teams. 

  • Strong understanding of earned value management, cost control, scheduling, and change management. 

  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, and enterprise financial systems. 

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. 

  • Preferred certifications: PMP, AACE (EVP/CEP/CCE), or CPA.

Salary Transparency

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $97,000 to $122,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
