Kitchen Associate
Join the Open Door Mission team of dedicated staff who are committed to full-time ministry and breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty!
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Kitchen Associate at Open Door Mission assists with the management of food service to include preparing meals, handling donated food items, determining whether to serve prepared food items, and assisting with kitchen clean-up, food preparation, and volunteer facilitation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Volunteer Services to facilitate kitchen volunteers, helping to ensure they are following procedure and having a memorable experience.
  • Load and unload trucks with food donations and get food from the food warehouse.
  • Provide emergency crisis counseling, problem-solving, and de-escalation strategies to staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Assist Cook and Hospitality Director with daily functions, meal prep, and basic cooking.
  • Direct and assist volunteers and program students in the kitchen.
  • Responsible for kitchen upkeep and cleanliness on a day to day basis.
  • Seek to exemplify Jesus Christ daily and be prepared to share the gospel or pray with others as opportunities arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • You have a visible relationship with Christ and regularly attend a Bible-believing church.
  • You have the ability to share the Gospel as opportunities arise.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Training in Food Service.
  • Experience working in a kitchen preparing food, menu preparation, cooking skills, recipe preparation.
