The Position
This position directs operations within the Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation Center including coordinating activities, managing equipment and supplies and, supervising lab personnel.
The Director of Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation Center oversees instructional support to students by reinforcing materials taught by faculty, assessing proficiency of remediated skills, developing and implementing simulation experiences, and developing and implementing student retention strategies. In collaboration with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Nursing Faculty, this position is responsible for designing and evaluating skills labs and simulation activities. In addition, this position assesses student learning outcome data and develops strategies to support student success.

What You Will Do
1. Develops and implements Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation learning experiences in collaboration with Nursing Faculty based on course objectives, student learning outcomes, and student learning needs.
2. Directs and coordinates the general operations of the Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation Center including scheduling of students and personnel to maximize use of the environment.
3. Collects and analyzes data, from student learning outcomes, student evaluations, and licensure examination scores to plan Nursing Skills Lab and Simulation learning experiences to enhance critical thinking, promote student retention and improve student success.
4. Hires, orients, evaluates, and supervises lab personnel to provide student support within the Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation Center.
5. Oversees preparation, maintenance, inventory, and operation of all lab and simulation equipment and supplies.
6. Monitors and prepares budgets including operational and funding requests providing recommendations for equipment and supply purchases considering future changes in technology in consultation with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences and Nursing Faculty.
7. Assumes public relations and communications including but not limited to: acting as department liaison to IT, maintaining satisfactory relationships with other college departments and outside agencies; collaborating with Nursing Skills Lab Staff, faculty and the Dean to participate in health-related professional and community activities and participating on department and college wide committees.
8. Collaborates with Lab Personnel and Nursing Faculty to establish annual and long term goals for the Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation Center; contributes to the development and review of departmental procedures.
9. Provides educational support to Nursing Faculty, clinical instructors, and lab personnel on the use of equipment and educational strategies that supports student success within the Skills Labs and Simulation Center.
10. Remain current with changing trends and technologies in nursing education, nursing practice, student retention, computer-facilitated learning, equipment utilized in the healthcare setting, and simulators; maintains appropriate competency in computer technology.
11. Related duties, projects and initiatives as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
1. Master's degree in Nursing (MSN).
2. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
3. Current CPR certification.
4. Five (5) years of recent nursing experience with demonstrated proficiency in current nursing skills, including medication calculation techniques.
5. Knowledge of nursing education requirements and familiarity with student retention practices.
6. Demonstrated ability to learn and increase knowledge about human patient simulation equipment (HPSE).
7. Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to work well with Nursing Skills Lab Staff, faculty, and to articulate departmental viewpoints to other college departments and outside agencies.
8. Four (4) years of leadership experience with accountability for individual and program results; ability to identify needed education and development for both students and designated college personnel.
9. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and other related technology required of the position such as multimedia computers and the ability to analyze and create detailed documents, reports, charts, and presentations, as well as the ability to learn additional software, hardware and video techniques as necessary.

2. Prior academic teaching experience.
3. Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) Certification.
