What is executive development?

Executive development refers to the process of preparing and enhancing the skills, knowledge, and abilities of individuals in leadership positions within an organization. This can involve formal training programs, coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job experiences designed to help executives lead more effectively. The goal is to ensure that leaders are equipped to drive organizational success, adapt to changing business environments, and manage teams efficiently. Executive development is crucial for succession planning and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.

What are some typical challenges faced in an executive development role, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Executive Development often encounter challenges such as aligning leadership programs with evolving organizational goals, engaging busy executives in ongoing learning, and measuring the impact of development initiatives. To address these, it’s important to maintain strong communication with senior leaders, tailor programs to specific business needs, and use robust metrics to track outcomes. Collaborating closely with HR, business unit leaders, and external partners can also help ensure initiatives remain relevant and effective.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in executive development, and why are they important?

To excel in Executive Development, you need a strong background in leadership theory, talent management, and organizational behavior, often supported by a degree in business or human resources. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), assessment tools, and certifications such as SHRM or HRCI is highly beneficial. Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills help drive effective leadership programs and foster executive growth. These capabilities are crucial for shaping future leaders, aligning talent strategies with business goals, and ensuring long-term organizational success.

Role Overview

Bolder Industries is seeking a dynamic Senior Executive Administrator to support the CEO and executive leadership team. This is not a traditional administrative role—this individual will serve as a central force in assisting the team in driving execution, ensuring alignment, and maintaining operational rigor across the business.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. They bring structure, discipline, and follow-through to executive priorities while operating with urgency and precision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end preparation for executive and leadership meetings (internal and external), including agenda development, pre-read coordination, and documentation of outcomes
  • Establish and manage a RAIL (Risks, Actions, Issues, Lessons) tracking system; drive accountability and ensure timely closure of action items across leadership and functional teams
  • Assemble CEO-level executive reports by consolidating KPI inputs from Operations, Engineering, Technology, Finance, and HR into clear, decision-ready materials
  • Support preparation and coordination of board materials and investor reporting, including compiling inputs, formatting presentations, and ensuring alignment with executive messaging
  • Act as a key communication conduit for the CEO and executive team; support development and execution of a consistent internal communication cadence across the organization
  • Manage complex and dynamic calendars for the CEO and COO, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and optimizing time allocation
  • Develop and maintain tracking tools, dashboards, and reporting systems using Excel, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms such as Monday.com or Asana
  • Support preparation of high-quality executive presentations, reports, and communications; familiarity with desktop publishing tools is preferred
  • Apply strong project management discipline across executive priorities, including timeline management, stakeholder coordination, and proactive follow-ups to ensure on-time delivery
  • Operate with high energy, responsiveness, and flexibility, including willingness to travel to support executive and business needs
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in executive administration or senior administrative support roles, preferably in high-growth, industrial, or technology-enabled environments
  • Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives, manage timelines, and drive tasks to completion with minimal oversight
  • Proven ability to operate with speed and accuracy in a high-demand, executive-facing role
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with Monday.com, Asana, or similar workflow tools
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of synthesizing information into clear, actionable formats
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and judgment in handling sensitive information
What Success Looks Like
  • Executive meetings are tightly run, well-prepared, and action-oriented
  • RAIL tracking is consistently maintained, with clear ownership and timely follow-through
  • Cross-functional initiatives are tracked and delivered on schedule with strong coordination and visibility
  • CEO reporting and board/investor materials are accurate, well-structured, and delivered on time
  • Internal communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with leadership priorities
  • The CEO and executive team operate efficiently with well-managed schedules and strong administrative leverage
