Job description

Event Security Coordinator - Richmond, VA

This role is a temporary, hybrid administrative and operational role that will operate out of the Richmond, VA area.

This position will run from approximately June 22, 2026 - September 30, 2026

There will be the possibility at the end of the tenure to continue in an increased capacity locally or in another branch within the company.

Administrative Processes (event-based, approximately 1-2 hours per event day):

  • Work with Administrative management team to learn fundamentals of scheduling, time processing, and compliance best practices
  • Learn basic HR processes including applicant tracking, interviewing and vetting, and hiring/onboarding systems
  • Principles of employee engagement - assisting to manage our employee roster in terms of communication and information distribution
  • Participation in staff retention projects

Event Operations (approximately 50 event days, subject to change based on external factors):

  • Security - Learn and help construct/deconstruct our hard and soft security perimeters at various sites
    • This is to include learning the security equipment itself - calibration, maintenance, and repair when necessary
  • Security - Participation in quality control oversight of perimeters and interior security staff and procedures
    • Help to coordinate staff briefing and deployment, outfitting of supervisors with appropriate radio and weather gear for staff
  • General - Liaising with appropriate Event Managers and client Leadership to identify and problem solve issues as they arise
    • These could range from personnel and technical issues on the tactical level, to timeline and talent arrival/departure plans on the strategic level
  • General - Participation in pre-event Security and Operations meetings
  • Guest Services - Learn and help train staff on credentialing, ticket taking software and hardware, incident reporting software and hardware

Schedule Requirement:

  • Scheduling is event-based; approximately 4-days per week for the duration of position
  • Soft calendar to be distributed four weeks ahead, firm calendar to be distributed two weeks ahead

Training Provided: 

  • Security Licensing 
  • Principles of Security Screening
  • Training on operation and maintenance of CEIA and Evolv security hardware
  • Principles of Security Staff Supervision and Management
  • Crowd Management
  • Possible/Schedule Dependent: Active Shooter Training 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs multiple times per event
  • Must be able to move and manipulate items weighing up to 100lbs
    • This maximum weight is push/pull for trolley loads, common weight of items to carry is approximately 25lbs
  • Works in all weather conditions and frequently during early morning and late nights during events

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of one year experience working in a special event/live production field
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Professional conduct and presentation of self and work product
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and stay on target with multiple end goals
  • Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • College degree obtained or near completion
  • Previous experience in a high volume, fast-paced work setting
    • Hospitality experience is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics
  • Experience/understanding of Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
