Job description

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing preventive and primary care as a part of a health care team in an ambulatory setting in a particular discipline. The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with a physician and provides care under established guidelines agreed upon by the nurse practitioner and the physician.
Duties include:
  • Providing primary care to patients
  • Performing initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations
  • Setting up and monitoring medical equipment
  • Ordering and administering diagnostic tests
  • Communicating test results to patients and their families
  • Recording patient medical histories
  • Operating and maintaining medical equipment

Education: Registered nurse and successful completion of a certified post-graduate program for nurse practitioners.
Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. BSN or advanced degree, certification and/or license in specialty. Maintains current DEA license. Current in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS).
Experience: Prefer experience but will consider new graduate.
Expertise: Primary health care
Language: English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Travel: Occasionally; valid Texas driver's license and current auto insurance required; must have reliable and safe transportation.
Hours of Work: 8am-5pm M-F with some weekend/evening work. On-call required.
