Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
This position will support Textron Aviation's Facilities & Maintenance team on sustainability, utility, and environmental performance initiatives across multiple company locations. The role will assist with energy, water, waste, emissions, and resource conservation projects while gaining exposure to sustainability strategy, ESG reporting, utility infrastructure, and continuous improvement. The Sustainability Analyst intern will contribute to data analysis, project development, business case evaluations, and reporting efforts that support Textron Aviation's environmental goals and operational efficiency. The role also provides opportunities to collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, EH&S, Finance, and Corporate Sustainability stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect, validate, and analyze energy, water, waste, utility, and environmental performance data. Identify diversion opportunities, cost impacts, and improvement actions.
  • Evaluate renewable energy, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, rebate, and incentive opportunities.
  • Research sustainability best practices, technologies, benchmarks, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and EH&S teams to promote sustainable business practices.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects related to environmental performance and utility usage.
  • Develop business case and return-on-investment analyses for sustainability initiatives.
  • Enhance sustainability metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to monitor performance and identify trends.
  • Support development of a rebate and incentive tracking process, including eligible projects, application status, deadlines, documentation requirements, estimated value, and realized savings.
  • Utilize data gathering, cost estimates, schedules, and tracking to support sustainability and utility-related capital projects.
  • Assist with measurement and verification of completed projects to compare projected savings against actual performance.
  • Create standard work, process documentation, and user guides for sustainability tracking tools, dashboards, and reporting processes.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:
  • Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
  • Sustainability
  • Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Business, Data Analytics, or related field with sustainability emphasis

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Analytical problem-solver with ability to interpret data and identify trends
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Interest in sustainability, ESG reporting, energy management, utilities, or environmental compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with data visualization, analytics software, or environmental reporting tools preferred
