What are ESG interns?

ESG interns are entry-level professionals who assist organizations in implementing strategies related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. Their responsibilities often include conducting research, analyzing sustainability data, preparing reports, and supporting ESG initiatives. Is a 3.4 GPA good for internships?

Many employers value practical experience and a demonstrated interest in environmental, social, and governance topics alongside academic performance.

Is ESG high paying?

ESG internships and entry-level ESG roles typically offer lower salaries compared to senior or specialized positions in finance or consulting. However, full-time ESG analyst or manager roles can be well-paying, especially with experience and relevant certifications like CFA or SASB. Compensation varies by industry, location, and company size.

Is 22 too old for an internship?

ESG internships are typically open to candidates of various ages, including those in their early twenties. Age is generally not a barrier, and many interns are college graduates or early-career professionals seeking experience in environmental, social, and governance fields.

To thrive as an ESG Intern, you need a solid understanding of environmental, social, and governance concepts, often supported by coursework in sustainability, business, or related fields. Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (like GRI or SASB), data analysis tools (such as Excel), and research platforms is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude help you excel in stakeholder engagement and collaborative projects. These skills are vital for supporting ESG initiatives, ensuring accurate reporting, and contributing to a company's responsible business practices.

What types of projects and tasks can an ESG Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As an ESG Intern, you can expect to support various sustainability and corporate responsibility projects, such as collecting and analyzing ESG data, assisting with sustainability reporting, and researching industry best practices. You'll often collaborate with different departments, like compliance, communications, and operations, to help integrate ESG initiatives across the organization. Interns may also participate in stakeholder engagement activities and help prepare presentations or reports for internal or external audiences. This exposure provides valuable insights into ESG frameworks and practical experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
