Sales Agent - United States (freelance)

Nexio Projects

New York, NY • On-site, Remote

Job description

Nexio Projects is looking for an independent, full-cycle Sales Agent to develop new business in the US. You will introduce Nexio's sustainability advisory and implementation services to relevant organizations, develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and manage opportunities from first conversation through to signed engagement. This role is suited either to an experienced sustainability professional with a strong US network or to a commercially minded business development professional with experience in EcoVadis, climate, ESG, consulting, or another complex B2B services environment.
Hi, we're Nexio Projects!
We help people and organizations take their next steps towards a more sustainable future. Day to day, that means cutting through the complexity of sustainability management and reporting so our clients can make bold commitments - and act on them.
As a sustainability consultancy of 45+ people headquartered in Rotterdam, we serve hundreds of international mid-market clients across EcoVadis, B Corp, CDP, CSRD and net-zero strategy. We're a certified B Corp (the highest-scoring B Corp consultancy in the Benelux), a certified Great Place To Work® and a Platinum EcoVadis strategic consulting partner. We practice what we advise, and we hire people who combine technical seriousness with a light touch: human, humble, hardworking, and allergic to taking themselves too seriously.
This is an independent, commission-led opportunity rather than an employment role. It is suited to entrepreneurial, ambitious salespeople who want the flexibility to develop their own market and earn based on the business they generate. If you're driven by results and care about sustainability, we'll give you the platform and flexibility to own your success.
What you'll be doing
  • Lead business development in the US for our sustainability consulting services, focusing on EcoVadis support, SBTi support, and product carbon footprinting
  • Turn high-potential prospects into long-term clients across packaging, manufacturing, logistics, chemicals, life sciences, FMCG, and professional services
  • Pitch tailored sustainability solutions to procurement teams, sustainability leaders, and executives
  • Own the full sales funnel, from first outreach to close. Our team will provide technical support on proposals but you are in charge of the process.
  • Stay on top of carbon accounting (including the GHG Protocol and SBTi), ESG standards, and the EcoVadis platform
  • Work with marketing to strengthen lead generation and keep messaging in line with what the market needs
  • Hand deals over smoothly to our consultancy and account management teams
What we're looking for
  • At least 5 years of proven B2B sales experience, ideally in consulting, sustainability, or ESG services
  • Based in the US, with an established commercial network there, and able to contract as a self-employed agent
  • A solid understanding of corporate sustainability, including carbon accounting, supply chain ESG, and ratings like EcoVadis
  • A natural relationship builder who speaks the language of procurement teams, sustainability leads, and executive decision-makers
  • Strong commercial instinct, and comfortable navigating complex sales cycles
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely, while staying connected to an international team
  • Organized, results-oriented, and at home in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
  • Comfortable managing HubSpot, maintaining an accurate pipeline, and working towards clear commercial objectives.
  • Above all, you care about sustainability and want your work to make a positive impact.

How it works ?
  • You're self-employed: we work together under a sales agent agreement, not an employment contract, so you're free to represent non-competing services alongside us
  • You earn an uncapped percentage commission on eligible new business that you directly develop and help close
  • Your territory will focus on US-based mid-market and larger organizations, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing, packaging, logistics, chemicals, life sciences, FMCG, and professional services
  • This is a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in the United States of America. The listed city is for administrative and job-posting purposes only and is not the required work location.
  • What we expect in return: join the weekly team check-in, keep your pipeline current in HubSpot, and represent us the way we'd represent ourselves
Three good reasons to join us
  1. Earn without a ceiling: your commission is uncapped, and demand isn't the problem. Sustainability commitments, supply chain requirements, EcoVadis assessments, and climate-related reporting needs are pushing US companies to look for exactly the help we sell.
  2. You're independent, not alone: you will have access to marketing support, sales collateral, technical consultants for relevant pitches, and onboarding to Nexio Projects' services and sales approach.
  3. Be part of our unique culture: whether it's educational workshops, sustainable clothing swaps, Friday drinks, or themed parties, we love to organize fun and inspiring activities, and we're always on the lookout for new ideas!
What happens next
  1. A 30-minute intro call with our recruitment team
  1. A 45-minute deep-dive with our commercial lead: your track record, your network, and how you'd approach the US market
  1. A short pitch exercise: sell us EcoVadis support as if we were a prospect
  1. References, followed by a sales agent agreement

We are an equal-opportunity organization and deeply value diversity, equity, and inclusion in our recruitment process. We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.
