Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled, adaptable Project Manager to embed within the Sacramento County Department of Technology, specifically supporting the Airports IT division. You will step in to seamlessly replace a departed contractor and ensure these vital public infrastructure projects remain seamlessly on track for the upcoming fiscal year. The interview and work location will be at 6741 Lindbergh Drive, Sacramento, CA 95837. The anticipated timeframe of this role will be 6 months - 1 year with possible extensions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Simultaneously manage and balance multiple IT projects running in parallel.
  • Facilitate, drive, and lead project meetings with stakeholders, technical staff, and department heads.
  • Create, execute, and meticulously maintain comprehensive project plans.
  • Assign clear project tasks and track accountability/ownership across cross-functional teams.
  • Proactively follow up with team members to keep deliverables on schedule, foresee risks, and aggressively unblock technical or administrative issues.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven track record in IT Project Management (experience with municipal, county, airport, or public sector environments is highly desirable).
  • Ability to step into an active environment, pick up existing workflows quickly, and establish immediate project control.
  • Superior multi-tasking abilities with a sharp eye for task ownership and scheduling.
  • Exceptional leadership and meeting facilitation skills, with the ability to bridge communication gaps between IT teams and non-technical business units.
