Ergonomics Engineer - Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering
Overview / Summary
We are seeking an Ergonomics Engineer to support manufacturing and industrial engineering activities, including ergonomic analysis, workstation assessments, capacity analysis, and process improvement initiatives to work onsite with the team in Dearborn, MI. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, safety, and manufacturing teams to evaluate ergonomic risks and support the implementation of effective ergonomic solutions within manufacturing environments.
This is a hybrid position requiring onsite support at engineering and manufacturing locations, along with occasional visits to supplier facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support industrial engineering activities including study responses, capacity strategy analysis, and time studies
  • Perform ergonomic assessments for manufacturing assembly workstations and processes
  • Interpret and implement ergonomic standards and procedures for manufacturing programs
  • Complete ergonomic evaluations using digital human modeling tools
  • Document ergonomic assessments and related deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Safety, Product Design, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Manufacturing teams
  • Evaluate ergonomic risks associated with work cells, tooling, racks, and manufacturing processes
  • Assist in developing ergonomic solutions and process improvements
  • Utilize tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, Process Simulate, JACK software, Ergo Web, and other approved assessment tools
  • Support ergonomic benchmarking, continuous improvement initiatives, and workplace safety enhancements
  • Participate in ergonomic standards development and team meetings

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Kinesiology, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ergonomics
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ergonomic analysis and industrial engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience working in a team-based environment
  • Experience analyzing ergonomic risk using advanced digital human modeling tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Process Simulate, JACK software, and Ergo Web
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Experience working in both engineering and plant/manufacturing environments
  • Ability to identify ergonomic issues and collaborate on effective solutions
  • Experience working in virtual environments using digital human modeling tools
  • Flexibility with work schedules and travel requirements
