Job description

Citi's Equity Research team is looking for an Equity Research Associate to support our analyst covering the Biotech sector, contributing to high-quality investment insights that inform equity investors on a global scale. Based within a team known for its independence, objectivity, and depth of analysis, you will play a meaningful role in shaping research output, client engagement, and analytical excellence across one of the most dynamic sectors in global markets. This is an opportunity to apply your equity research expertise in an environment where your work directly influences investment decisions and client relationships worldwide.
Responsibilities
  • Support the production of equity research publications including earnings previews and recaps, initiation reports, and in-depth thematic notes across the Biotech sector.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance financial models for covered Biotech companies, including the development of new models and upkeep of relative value frameworks.
  • Advise and respond to client inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, delivering timely, accurate, and well-reasoned analysis.
  • Coordinate investor events including management meetings, field trips, and industry consultant calls, ensuring seamless execution and strong client experience.
  • Partner with the lead analyst to develop research ideas and translate complex financial data into clear, actionable investment insights.
  • Apply sound judgment when assessing the reputational and regulatory implications of business decisions, upholding Citi's standards of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a high-performance research culture built on knowledge sharing and analytical rigor.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 5-8 years of experience in equity research or a closely related investment analysis role.
  • Solid grounding in accounting principles and financial modelling, applied within an equity research context.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior equity research analysts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage and validate complex, multi-source financial information accurately.
  • Active FINRA licenses - SIE, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 - or the ability and commitment to obtain and maintain these licenses.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • MBA, graduate degree, or CFA designation - or active progress toward one.
  • Sector knowledge or prior coverage experience within the Biotech or life sciences industry.
  • Experience taking an informal leadership role within a research team, including involvement in coaching or onboarding colleagues.
