The Optum EHR services team is building an innovative, comprehensive Epic services capability using the collective expertise of our clinical, consulting, delivery, technology and operations teams.  Our Center of Excellence is bringing together some of the greatest minds in the industry to further our mission of making the health system work better for everyone. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Epic product function, design, build, and testing expertise and experience for assigned Epic module related to EpicCare Inpatient
  • Collaborate with end users to design and build the Epic system in a timely and professional manner and make corrective configuration or enhancements
  • Lead small to medium complexity Epic software upgrade initiatives or enhancements to workflows including the design, build, and test phases
  • Participate in design and validation sessions and ensure appropriate documentation, follow-up and issue escalation occurs
  • Provide technical and/or clinical consultation including application configuration. Review, analyze, and evaluate system needs to develop recommendations for customers
  • Develop, support and maintain all required system design and build documents and other system documentation
  • Perform daily monitoring of applications in production use
  • Actively participate in all phases of the testing lifecycle and perform unit, system and integrated testing tasks and activities for EpicCare oncology workflows
  • Provide support of application incidents reported through the help desk, including 24/7 on call coverage as required
  • Obtain and maintain in-depth knowledge of software functionality; acquire and utilize knowledge of operational workflows to be implemented
  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software
  • Work with trainers to develop and maintain application specific training curriculum and materials
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and manage changes to specifications. Prioritize, coordinate, and implement updates and requested changes to the system; review and test each new release; troubleshoot problems and questions from end users
  • Develop solid relationships with end user communities, customers and business partners

Required Qualifications:

  • Active / current Epic certification in Beacon
  • 3 years of healthcare experience
  • 2 years Epic build experience 
  • Direct client healthcare domain knowledge such as provider oncology workflows, therapy and treatment plans, nursing oncology infusion workflows including medication administration and clinical documentation


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of direct client experience
  • Experience in radiation oncology build
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Ability to demonstrate and have a history of team coordination (informal or formal), cross-team communication and project management skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Epic EMR and the full implementation lifecycle of Epic's suite of EMR applications

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
