Job description

Ideal Candidate: The Front-End Warehouse Associate I is responsible for supporting daily receiving and inventory operations by verifying inbound deliveries, unloading freight, processing documentation, and accurately storing materials within the warehouse. This entry-level role assists with freight inspection, labeling, system entry, and material movement while ensuring compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements. The associate works under close supervision and develops foundational skills in receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations in support of efficient, accurate, and safe facility operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify driver identity and ensure compliance with facility security and TSA requirements prior to entry.
  • Receive, direct, and assist truck drivers during check-in, unloading, and departure processes.
  • Confirm freight is delivered to the correct DGM location and obtain required documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOL), Packing Lists, Invoices, Delivery Tickets, and related paperwork.
  • Safely unload inbound freight using manual pallet jacks or forklifts (after certification), following established safety procedures.
  • Perform initial inspections of incoming freight for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Verify packing slips against physical freight and document discrepancies in accordance with procedures.
  • Transport materials from receiving areas to designated storage, staging, or processing areas.
  • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, temperature requirements, product type, or customer specifications.
  • Arrange materials using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) sequencing or other customer-specified requirements.
  • Apply labels and identifying markings to materials and verify accuracy.
  • Assemble receiving paperwork and coordinate with Account Coordinators as needed to ensure accurate order processing.
  • Enter and update receipt, movement, and inventory data in company computer systems, C2C.
  • Take accurate measurements and weights of freight as required and verify part numbers and quantities.
  • Conduct cycle counts and physical inventory checks to ensure conformance with company standards.
  • Assist with facility-wide inventories of freight, materials, or supplies as requested by management.
  • Support outbound preparation by staging materials or preparing parcels for shipment as directed.
  • Monitor security cameras and report any suspicious activity to QHSE or management.
  • Identify different classifications of hazardous materials and follow handling procedures under supervision.
  • Maintain familiarity with OSHA, TSA, and company regulatory requirements applicable to warehouse operations.
  • Escalate any safety, quality, or security concerns immediately to supervision.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and in accordance with training and company procedures.
  • Read and follow work orders, shipping documents, and requisitions to determine materials to be moved or processed.
  • May be required to work in other areas of the warehouse or travel locally as needed to support operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-2 years of warehouse or logistics experience preferred, with exposure to receiving, inventory control, packing, or material-handling operations.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic experience operating pallet jacks and forklifts preferred; willingness and ability to complete forklift certification required.
  • Experience using hand tools, scanners, or basic warehouse equipment to support receiving, labeling, and material movement tasks.
  • Ability to accurately measure, count, label, and verify freight using packing slips, Bills of Lading, and other shipping documents.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and internal communication; experience using warehouse systems, C2C preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions, including safety procedures and job-specific processes.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, damage, or irregularities in inbound freight and report them to supervision.
  • Willingness to learn hazardous materials classifications and handling requirements under supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with shifting priorities and delivery schedules.
  • Must successfully complete required safety and regulatory training, including OSHA, TSA, and company-specific programs, within established timelines.
  • Must be able to successfully complete IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR hazardous materials training within 90 days of hire, with a minimum passing score of 90%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
  • Work is performed primarily in a warehouse and dock environment with frequent exposure to delivery vehicles, moving equipment, and varying noise levels.
  • Regular interaction with truck drivers, vendors, and internal staff in active receiving and staging areas.
  • May work in indoor and outdoor or semi-covered areas depending on dock location, weather, and delivery activity.
  • Required to follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, TSA security procedures, and site-specific work instructions at all times.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vests, and hearing protection as required by task or area.
  • Expected to maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas including docks, aisles, racks, and receiving zones in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Required to remain alert and aware of surroundings while working around moving trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Must immediately report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, damaged freight, or security concerns to supervision or QHSE.
  • Required to comply with all hazardous materials handling procedures under supervision, including proper labeling, segregation, and storage.
  • May be required to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overtime based on operational needs and delivery schedules.
