Position Summary
This role leads Sales, Catering Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Events, Reservations, and Business Development functions while partnering closely with Operations, Finance, and resort leadership to ensure commercial initiatives align with the resort's strategic objectives and exceptional guest experience standards.
The Commercial Director is directly accountable for achieving commercial performance goals, including budget, forecast, market share, revenue growth, asset profitability, and total hotel performance. Simultaneously, this leader is responsible for designing and deploying long-term commercial strategies that create sustainable growth and maximize revenue opportunities throughout the resort.
Revenue Growth & Innovation
The Commercial Director is expected to continuously identify and develop new revenue opportunities that enhance the resort experience while driving financial performance. Examples may include:
  • Development of retail partnerships and experiential pop-up activations.
  • Creation of dynamic demand-based pricing strategies.
  • Expansion of membership and loyalty-based revenue programs.
  • Development of sponsorship, branding, and naming-rights opportunities.
  • Creation of resort-wide event calendars and seasonal programming.

Responsibilities
The Commercial Director develops and executes the annual and multi-year commercial strategy for the resort in partnership with the General Manager, Regional Commercial Director, ownership groups, and regional support teams. This position oversees the commercial operating model and ensures alignment across all revenue-generating departments.
The successful candidate will lead the optimization of all revenue streams, including guest rooms, group and local catering, food and beverage outlets, spa operations, recreation activities, parking, memberships, seasonal programming, special events, holiday experiences, and ancillary revenue opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing innovative commercial strategies that maximize revenue, profitability, and competitive positioning.
  • Leading weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual commercial business reviews to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and develop actionable strategies.
  • Establishing a predictive and prescriptive approach to business analytics, forecasting, and revenue optimization.
  • Monitoring market trends, customer demand patterns, competitor activity, and emerging industry developments to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risk.
  • Creating and communicating commercial performance targets and strategic initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Building strong relationships with corporate accounts, travel partners, meeting planners, event organizers, local businesses, and community stakeholders.
  • Partnering with Operations and Finance leaders to ensure commercial objectives support guest satisfaction goals and financial performance targets.
  • Reviewing and approving pricing strategies, revenue forecasts, group quotations, and business development plans.
  • Supporting public relations, marketing, brand positioning, and market-level promotional activities.
  • Maintaining compliance with Hilton brand standards, commercial initiatives, and corporate identity guidelines.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 12-15+ years of hospitality experience overall, with a strong focus on luxury or upper-upscale hotels.
  • Recommended Director-level experience.
  • 5-8+ years in senior commercial leadership roles.
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated success driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting, pricing strategies, and commercial performance management.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior luxury resort or complex hotel experience.
  • Regional commercial leadership experience preferred.
  • Cross-functional operational experience within hotel or resort environments.
