Job description

Free People is seeking an  Assistant Design Coordinator who will support the Design Team with administrative duties and tasks as needed in support of the creation process, development and execution of own brand product.


  • Maintain an active role in the weekly CFT Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Design.
  • Support the seasonal development calendar in partnership with design, buying, technical design, and PD/production.
  • Help organize design tools and propose new processes to help design team meet upcoming design deadlines.
  • Execute specific design development projects as assigned from Design by managing development status and tracking of trim and artwork packages.
  • Own style number and tech pack creation for all market styles as well as daily updates on class style trackers.
  • Assist Design with BOM updates throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with CFTs on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.
  • Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
  • Review incoming garments with Designer and CFT partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
  • Assist in sample preparation for monthly sketch and sample review meetings by collaborating with Design on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Perform special tasks as needed.

Skills

  • Strong sense of organizational skills and passion for a fast speed environment
  • Proactiveness and self-motivation is a must for this role
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft platforms
  • Strong and effective communication skills are required to interact with designers, buyers, and other CFT partners
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process
  • Design tools knowledge that are a nice to have: PLM, Figma, Generative AI Assistants (Gemini, Claude)

 

Qualifications

  • Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction
