Job Description

The Process Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of deliverables. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Engineer. This individual may also delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff and provide oversight to their work. The Process Engineer is expected to support the Lead Engineer and have responsibility for defined scope of the project such as a unit operation or small area. This individual should understand the project schedule and budget and develop a work plan to support the delivery of their scope in support of those broader team goals.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with client and external partners
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight
  • Support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Participate and contribute to a squad check to produce coordinated, high quality deliverables
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Designer I to translate the engineering design into the Revit model with oversight from the Lead or Senior Engineer
  • Participate in basic project system design programming with support from Lead or Senior Engineer
  • Form an understanding of the industry landscape, build relationships with vendors and attend external industry events
  • Delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff and provide oversight to their work
  • Support the generation of deliverables which require more experience, deeper understanding or involve more complexity such as:
    • Authoring Basis of Design reports
    • Hazardous Material Summary
    • Material Balances
    • Heat Transfer Calculations
    • Process Simulation
    • Process Descriptions
    • Equipment Specifications
    • Hygienic Piping Specifications
    • Room Cards
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in discipline specific degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, in an operating company or design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency AutoCAD preferred
  • Proficiency Revit preferred
  • A high degree of proficiency performing a variety of engineering calculations using existing templates is required
  • Ability to develop novel engineering calculations from first principles where an existing template is unavailable is preferred
  • Basic experience with the discipline code, generically stated required
  • Basic exposure to applicable Industry & Regulatory Guidance and statutory building codes is required
  • Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required
  • Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination required
  • Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers required
