Job description

Optometrist

Washington Army National Guard – JBLM / Camp Murray
This Position Is Contingent Upon Bid Award

Work Location

Primary: Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Washington
Alternate: Camp Murray, Tacoma, Washington

Additional WAARNG-authorized locations within approximately 60 miles of JBLM may be used.

  • Type of Employment: Part-Time / Intermittent Contractor Position with W-2 employment through Fidelity Partners.
  • Estimated Compensation: $77.34 per hour.
  • Period of Performance: September 15, 2026 through September 14, 2031, including option periods.
  • Schedule: Primarily Saturday and Sunday during drill weekends, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
  • Annual Workdays: Estimated minimum of approximately 24 days and maximum of 60 workdays per year.
  • Government-Furnished Equipment: Government workspace, computers, office resources, examination forms, and required optometry equipment are provided.
  • Travel: No separate contractor travel requirement identified.
Summary of Duties

The Optometrist will provide professional optometry services in support of Washington Army National Guard aviation medicine requirements at JBLM, Camp Murray, and other authorized locations.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a current State of Washington Optometrist license.
  • Must meet applicable examination eligibility requirements of the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
  • Must be familiar with Military Aviation Medicine.
  • Must be fully trained, licensed, certified, and otherwise qualified before beginning performance.
  • Copies of required licenses and certifications must be provided for credentialing and privileging.
  • Must satisfy applicable installation access and background-screening requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct professional optometry examinations.
  • Perform Army aviation-related vision evaluations.
  • Write appropriate corrective-lens prescriptions.
  • Order eyeglasses and frames through the Spectacle Request Transmission System (SRTS).
  • Complete required encounter and medical documentation.
  • Complete or update DD Form 2807, DD Form 2808, DA Form 7655, DD Form 771, and related forms.
  • Access and update MEDPROS Web Data Entry, AERO, and MHS Genesis.
  • Document examination results accurately.
  • Maintain required vision and medical data.
  • Prepare required drill-period and prescription reports.
  • Coordinate services with the Government COR and designated WAARNG personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with DoD information-security requirements.
