The SDR then schedules appointments or passes qualified leads to more senior sales representatives for further engagement. This role is often a starting point for a career in sales, providing valuable experience in customer communication and lead management.

Job description

Description
Portnox is seeking a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to drive new sales opportunities and fuel our growth. This is a quota-carrying, entry-level sales role for ambitious, results-driven individuals eager to build a career in technology sales. Our SDR team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s sales goals through lead generation, qualification, and pipeline development. The SDR will identify and convert leads into opportunities for Account Executives while delivering a world-class prospect experience.
What We’re Looking For:
This is not a customer service job. The high-risk and high-reward nature of a career in SaaS Sales rewards grit and drive that not everyone possesses. The challenge of connecting a prospective customer with the product that meets their needs can require strategic planning, quick-thinking creativity, and laser-focused tenacity. To top performers, this role is the opportunity to kickstart a very lucrative career in SaaS sales.
While Sales Development experience is a major plus in this role, we’ve seen a wide variety of backgrounds translate to success.
The most successful Sales Development Representatives often…
  • Are competitive, tenacious, driven to surpass expectations.
  • Love learning, problem-solving, and overcoming challenges creatively
  • Strive to create an organized, efficient, repeatable path to success
  • Have a technical background or strong interest in technology.
  • Have a positive attitude and thrive on connecting with people

For example, are you…
  • The extrovert in your engineering program that has a reputation for winning (games, sports, debates)
  • The over-achieving STEM major in your sorority?
  • A tech-savy teacher that’s secretly ultra-competitive and craves a bougie lifestyle?
  • An accomplished athlete that maintained top marks in school and has a complex and technical hobby?
  • Ex-military that likes intellectual and analytical challenges, makes friends wherever they go, and can grind their way to success over any obstacle?
  • A wildly ambitious recent college graduate, whip-smart, organized, bursting with initiative and laser-focused on building a career in technology sales and ready to do the homework

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and qualify leads through outbound calls, emails, and research.
  • Collaborate with marketing to convert inbound leads and nurture prospects.
  • Deliver a high-quality prospect experience while surpassing KPOs for new leads contacted, calls, and qualified meetings
  • Create personalized messaging to appeal to potential buyers, developing intrigue and positioning Portnox products as a value-add solution
  • Educate customers on Portnox features to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Research and analyze market trends and identify security-conscious organizations that are a good fit for Portnox’s solutions
  • Schedule demos and create opportunities for Account Executives.
  • Track all activity in CRM software to maintain pipeline visibility and reporting.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  •  Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expansive creativity and ability to innovate and problem-solve driven by the desire to connect with prospects and convert them to customers
  • Competitive and hunter mentality with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience building relationships via phone, email, and social media
  • Fluent with MS Office
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of developing efficient workflows.
  • Comfortable with technology concepts and eager to learn more.
Preferred:
  • Experience with sales acceleration and engagement platforms like Salesloft or Outreach
  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Zoominfo and other business information and market research platforms
  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred)
  • Demonstrable success in a quota carrying sales role
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture or cybersecurity a major plus!

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. On occasion, the employee must be able to lift 35 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Why Join Us
  • Opportunity to make a significant impact on the operations of the company.
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.Â
