Sdr Rep information

What is an SDR rep?

SDR reps, or Sales Development Representatives, are professionals responsible for identifying and qualifying potential sales leads for a company. They typically reach out to prospects through calls, emails, and social media to assess interest and set up meetings for the sales team. SDR reps focus on the early stages of the sales process, helping to build a strong pipeline of opportunities for account executives or sales managers to close. Their role is crucial in ensuring that sales teams spend time on high-potential leads and grow company revenue.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an SDR rep, and why are they important?

To thrive as an SDR Rep (Sales Development Representative), you need strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sales fundamentals, and often a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software like Salesforce, email automation tools, and prospecting platforms is typically required. Persistence, active listening, and resilience are standout soft skills in this position. These abilities are vital for generating leads, building client relationships, and consistently meeting sales targets in a competitive environment.

What are some typical challenges an SDR rep faces when qualifying leads, and how can they overcome them?

SDR Reps often encounter challenges such as reaching decision-makers, handling gatekeepers, and discerning genuine interest among prospects. Overcoming these hurdles requires persistence, effective communication, and active listening skills. Utilizing CRM tools to track interactions and tailoring outreach strategies based on prospect responses can significantly improve lead qualification. Regular feedback sessions with sales teams also help SDR Reps refine their approach and align with changing market demands.

Is Sdr Rep a good career?

A Sales Development Representative (SDR) role is often considered a good entry point into sales and technology industries, offering opportunities to develop communication, prospecting, and CRM skills. It can lead to higher sales positions or specialized roles, with typical schedules involving outbound calls and email outreach. The role provides valuable experience for those interested in sales, marketing, or business development careers.

An SDR (Sales Development Representative) role is typically considered an entry-level position in sales, often suitable for candidates with little to no prior experience. Job description

Description

About TRI Air Testing

TRI Air Testing, Inc. is an AIHA-LAP accredited laboratory providing compressed air testing, analysis, and compliance solutions to customers across the United States and around the world.

Our customers include organizations in highly regulated and quality-critical industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, manufacturing, and other industrial markets. We help customers ensure their compressed air systems meet applicable quality and compliance requirements-providing reliable testing, reporting, and technical support when it matters.

We are growing our sales team and are looking for a driven, persistent, and personable Sales Development Representative (SDR) to help us expand our customer base and create new business opportunities.

The Opportunity

The Sales Development Representative (SDR), also commonly known as a Business Development Representative (BDR) ย will be a key part of our business development efforts and the first point of contact for many prospective customers.

You will identify potential customers, connect with decision-makers, understand their needs, introduce them to TRI Air Testing's capabilities, and create qualified opportunities for our sales team.

This is a high-activity, relationship-driven role for someone who enjoys prospecting, communicating with people, learning about new industries, and turning conversations into opportunities.

You don't need to be an expert in compressed air testing on day one. We'll help you learn our services and industry. What matters most is your ability to communicate effectively, stay organized, handle rejection, and consistently pursue new opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Research and identify prospective customers within target industries and markets.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective customers through proactive outbound B2B sales, business development, and lead-generation activities.
  • Conduct outbound sales outreach through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and other channels.
  • Engage with prospective customers to understand their business, testing, and compliance needs.
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads using established criteria.
  • Schedule qualified meetings and discovery calls for Account Managers and Outside Sales Representatives.
  • Develop consistent follow-up strategies for prospects who are not yet ready to buy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect and activity information in the CRM.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Outside Sales Representatives on lead-generation campaigns, events, and follow-up activities.
  • Research market and industry trends to identify new prospects and business opportunities.
  • Track activity, conversion, and pipeline metrics and work toward established sales-development goals.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting on prospecting activities and results.
  • Continuously refine outreach strategies based on prospect response and results.

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

We believe strong performance should be rewarded. This position offers a competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives, giving you the opportunity to increase your earnings as you build qualified sales opportunities and contribute to company growth.

Compensation includes:

  • Competitive Base Salary: A stable base rate of pay with the opportunity to earn additional income based on performance.
  • Lead Generation: Earn a flat rate for every qualified sales lead that meets established qualification criteria and is accepted by the sales team.
  • Annual Performance Kicker: Additional performance-based incentives if SDR-generated revenue meets or exceeds $100,000.
  • Uncapped Earning Potential: There is no limit on the number of qualified leads you can generate or the performance-based compensation you can earn.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is competitive, persistent, curious, and comfortable starting conversations with people they don't know.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating with prospective customers by phone and email.
  • Strong listening and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to ask questions, understand customer needs, and communicate value clearly.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • A high level of self-motivation and accountability.
  • The ability to remain persistent and positive when faced with rejection.
  • A results-oriented mindset and desire to achieve measurable goals.
  • The ability to learn technical products, services, and industry terminology.
  • A bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional/business experience.

Experience with CRM and sales-prospecting tools such as Salesforce, Acumatica, ZoomInfo, Reply.io, or similar platforms is a plus.

Previous B2B sales, business development, recruiting, customer service, or other prospect-facing experience is helpful, but we are also open to motivated candidates who have the communication skills and drive to succeed in an SDR role.

Why Join TRI Air Testing?

  • Join an established company serving customers across a diverse range of industries.
  • Build valuable experience in B2B sales and business development.
  • Learn and sell specialized technical services rather than a commodity product.
  • Work directly with experienced sales professionals and customer-facing teams.
  • Have a measurable impact on the company's growth and expansion.
  • Develop skills in prospecting, discovery, customer relationship management, and pipeline development.
