Job Title: HR Administrator

Industry: Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Commercial Real Estate, or other fast-paced professional services environments

Location (City, State): Sterling, VA

Assignment Type: Contract | Approximately 4 months (with potential for extension)

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/hour

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (40 hours/week)

Some flexibility with start time is available during business operating hours.

Job Description:

The HR Administrator will provide administrative support across a variety of Human Resources functions, helping ensure employee records, onboarding activities, and daily HR operations are completed accurately and efficiently. This position offers extensive training and exposure to multiple areas of HR while working closely with an experienced team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and organize employee personnel files and HR documentation.
  • Prepare employment-related paperwork, including onboarding documents and employment verification requests.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding by coordinating paperwork, scheduling activities, and entering employee information into internal systems.
  • Support employee offboarding by processing required documentation and updating records.
  • Update and maintain employee information within HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
  • Assist with benefits administration by tracking forms and supporting enrollment activities.
  • Help ensure compliance with HR policies, employment documentation, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects, employee programs, and training initiatives.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for employee questions and direct inquiries to the appropriate HR team member.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Internship or approximately one year of administrative or HR support experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Human Resources.
  • Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking systems (ATS), or payroll software is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to adapt in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, architecture, commercial real estate, or other high-volume industries is a plus.
