What are entry level hotel sales jobs?

Entry level hotel sales jobs are positions within a hotel’s sales department that are designed for individuals with little to no prior sales experience. These roles typically involve assisting with booking events, supporting senior sales staff, reaching out to potential clients, and helping to promote the hotel’s services and amenities. Entry level hotel sales professionals often handle administrative tasks, coordinate with other departments, and learn sales strategies while gaining valuable hospitality industry experience. These positions can be a great starting point for a career in hotel management or sales.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Hotel Sales professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Hotel Sales professional, you need strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills, often supported by a degree in hospitality or business. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS), customer relationship management (CRM) software, and basic office applications is typically required. Persuasiveness, a positive attitude, and the ability to build relationships help individuals stand out in this client-facing role. These skills ensure success by driving bookings, maintaining guest satisfaction, and supporting revenue growth for the hotel.

What are some common challenges faced by entry level hotel sales professionals, and how can they overcome them?

Entry level hotel sales professionals often encounter challenges such as building a client base from scratch, learning to effectively communicate the hotel's value proposition, and managing multiple sales leads simultaneously. To overcome these obstacles, it's important to proactively seek mentorship from experienced team members, participate in ongoing training, and make use of customer relationship management (CRM) tools to stay organized. Additionally, attending networking events and developing strong relationships with other departments, like front desk and banquets, can help new sales professionals better understand hotel operations and enhance their sales effectiveness.

Job description

Description

Summary:

Who We Are

White Lodging develops and operates a portfolio of award-winning premium hotels, rooftop bars, and restaurants in some of the country's most dynamic cities. We know that the hospitality business, like life, is about how you make people feel. That's where you come in. You'll help bring the virtue of hospitality to life while we create an environment that allows you to be your best self and grow.

We are hiring an Area Sales Coordinator to support our hotel sales team. This is a hotel sales support role for an organized, detail-oriented hospitality professional who thrives behind the scenes — managing leads, coordinating group bookings, drafting proposals, and keeping the sales engine running smoothly. If you're looking for hotel sales coordinator jobs, an entry-level hotel sales position, or a hospitality sales support role where you can learn the business from the inside and grow into a Sales Manager role, this is your opportunity with one of the country's most growth-oriented hotel management companies.

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

  • Support the hotel sales team by routing incoming sales leads, drafting group proposals, and managing group bookings from initial inquiry through confirmation
  • Build and maintain relationships with key client contacts — fully understanding their event and group needs and proactively communicating all relevant details to hotel operations teams for seamless execution
  • Prepare and distribute sales contracts, group resumes, banquet event orders (BEOs), and other sales correspondence with accuracy and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the hotel sales system (Delphi, CI/TY, or comparable platform) — tracking leads, bookings, and client communications across all assigned properties
  • Assist in coordinating and executing sales blitzes, client appreciation events, site visits, and property tours that support the team's prospecting and account development efforts
  • Respond promptly to incoming sales inquiries via phone and email — qualifying leads and routing them to the appropriate Sales Manager with full context and documentation
  • Support the Director of Sales and Senior Sales Managers with reporting, forecasting documentation, and presentation preparation as needed
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for clients and internal hotel teams — representing the White Lodging sales team with professionalism and a service-first mindset
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Prior hotel sales, hospitality, events, or administrative support experience preferred — not required; we will train the right candidate with the right attitude and organizational instincts
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — you draft clear, professional proposals and correspondence and communicate confidently with clients and hotel operations teams alike
  • Strong relationship-building skills — with clients, sales teammates, and internal hotel departments
  • Impeccable time management and organizational skills — you manage multiple deadlines, bookings, and client needs simultaneously without dropping the ball
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) — experience with hotel sales systems such as Delphi or CI/TY a strong plus
  • A genuine interest in growing a career in hotel sales — you're curious, coachable, and motivated to learn the full sales process from the inside out
