Job Summary

The Instructional Designer drives revenue and program growth for Workforce Solutions by selling customized training programs to employers and building the curriculum needed to deliver them.

Job Duties:

The Instructional Designer sells and closes customized training programs with employers, owns the full sales cycle from outreach through delivery, and designs the curriculum and materials to support them. This includes rebuilding and owning the Marine Training program, designing and monitoring U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved courses for ongoing compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for assigned or acquired employers. The role also develops broader curriculum and stackable credential pathways, builds digital learning resources using platforms like Salesforce, Google Classroom, and PeopleSoft, and evaluates course performance to drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, or Economic Developmentย 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in B2B sales, account management, or business development, the ability to sell, negotiate, and close deals matters more than having sold training specifically
  • Experience in teaching, corporate training, curriculum writing, or instructional design in any setting (K-12, higher ed, corporate L&D, military training, etc.)
  • Experience managing client or customer relationships where understanding a client's needs and tailoring a solution was central to the role (e.g., consulting, account management, client services)
  • Experience building proposals, budgets, or pricing in any professional context, showing comfort balancing quality with financial sustainability
  • Experience juggling multiple concurrent projects or accounts and meeting deadlines under competing priorities project coordination, event planning, or program management backgrounds all translate well
  • Experience working within a regulated, compliance-driven, or credentialing environment (healthcare, safety, licensing, military, maritime, aviation, etc.) is a strong plus, even if not specific to Coast Guard training
