Job description

Title: Compounder 1
Department: Production
Reports to: Operations Supervisor

This position is 2nd shift.
The Standard Working Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 3:00PM-11:30PM.
The shift will have a $1.25/hour shift premium.
Position Summary
The Compounder 1 role is an entry level role on the compounding team. This role ensures quality and accurate compound manufacturing of flavors to be packaged and shipped to customers. The Compounder 1 role is responsible for set up (a standard pump or mixer, etc.) and operation of proper production equipment in accordance with established procedures (SOPs). The Compounder 1 role will learn the guidelines, and able to read and interpret basic formula instructions to successfully manufacture a flavor.
Essential Job Functions
  • Operates machinery used in the production process, assists other team members as needed.
  • May be asked to package product, deliver product with pallet jack to another area of production.
  • Successfully passes testing and operation tests for pallet jacks and reach trucks.
  • Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify management of any malfunctions.
  • Utilize Company proprietary software and internal ERP system to complete daily work.
  • Visually inspects raw materials and prepares for processing.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using dedicated equipment or asks for assistance to lift properly and safely. Is able to lift a maximum lifting 50-60 lbs.
  • Accurately measure amounts of raw materials according to the formula and follows all compounding instructions to achieve a quality finished product.
  • Adds raw materials into equipment prior to mixing.
  • Mix ingredients according to specified procedures and formulas.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Maintain clean/safe work areas, machines, equipment, and product packaging according to safety and SQF standards (proper GMP's and sanitary procedures).
  • Share duties of disposing of office trash and recyclables and restocking supplies in the restroom, break room areas and on the production floor.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and participates in daily and weekly cleaning/sanitization schedules.
  • Understands the packaging process in the correct order to be able to step in wherever necessary.
  • Trash removal as assigned.
  • Assists with taking cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements
Education: High school diploma (or GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Work Experience: 6 months to 1+ years as a Packager or 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Industry Knowledge: Food manufacturing or compounding experience helpful, but not required.
