What is a changeover technician?

Changeover Technicians are skilled professionals responsible for setting up, adjusting, and preparing manufacturing equipment or production lines for new product runs or changes in production. They ensure that all machinery is correctly configured and operating safely and efficiently during product or process transitions. Their work minimizes downtime and maintains product quality, making them essential in industries like food processing, pharmaceuticals, and automotive manufacturing.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a changeover technician?

To thrive as a Changeover Technician, you need a strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting skills, and experience in manufacturing or production environments, often supported by a technical diploma or relevant certifications. Familiarity with production machinery, lockout/tagout procedures, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is typically required. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and teamwork are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure efficient equipment changeovers, minimize downtime, and maintain safety and productivity in the manufacturing process.
