Job description

Compounder

Development facility located near Atlanta, Georgia. The new building is a 40,000 sq ft facility with state-of-the-art laboratory and manufacturing operations. There are plans to expand this facility within the next year.

Job Description

The Production Compounder is responsible for the accurate weighing, checking and mixing of specific chemical compounds for product formulations. The Production Compounder will be calibrating and monitoring a variety of mixing machinery and accurately documenting and maintaining production logbooks and records. Production Compounder candidates will need good computer skills and the ability to learn quickly.

Essential Duties:

  • Weigh out raw materials according to a batch card
  • Responsible for safe operations of forklift and all material handling equipment within the work area
  • Maintain a safe working environment, utilize appropriate safety equipment and proactively improve the safety culture of the department
  • Maintain processing area and equipment in a clean, sanitary and presentable condition; adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and exemplary housekeeping standards
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team to solve problems, develop procedures, and recommend improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned including handling and moving of chemicals
  • Develop policies and procedures to maintain the organization's long term competitive position and profitability in the market

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10-to-12-hour shifts
  • Ability to carry, twist, push, pull products and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Experience working in production as a Chemical Compounder, Chemical Operator, Pre-Weigh Technician, Raw Material Handler or related in a chemical, pharmaceutical or personal care company
  • Working experience in a manufacturing lab or a pharmaceutical manufacturer
  • Ability to do any physical work necessary (climbing ladder, fitting into tight spaces, lifting heavy containers, etc.)
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Can comfortably work in hot areas
  • Working knowledge of kettles
  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment, standing and walking around as much as 90% of the day
  • Must be able to handle physical work as needed; may need to lift as much as 40lb
  • At least one year working experience in a lab environment or compounding field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills

  • Performs all required safety and housekeeping audits
  • Lead/ Participate in department safety incident investigations
  • Identify safety issues and immediately implement countermeasures, involving the right resources
  • Creates an environment and team attitude that delivers zero risk, zero near misses, zero treatment reports, zero recordables
  • Ensure all other safety goals of the team are met

  • Communicate quality issues to the right resources and respond in a timely fashion
