Job description

Salary: $22-$27/ Hour DOE

We are seeking a safety-conscious, hard-working Licensed Herbicide Applicator to join our growing team. This role involves the application of herbicides to control unwanted vegetation in aquatic, industrial, and ROW settings. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of chemical handling, application techniques, and environmental safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and apply herbicides using appropriate equipment such as sprayers, tanks, and other tools.
  • Assess and identify target vegetation and determine the most effective herbicide treatment based on environmental factors and site-specific requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory standards for herbicide use.
  • Operate and maintain application equipment, ensuring proper calibration, functionality, and cleanliness.
  • Monitor treated areas for effectiveness and apply follow-up treatments if necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of herbicide use, including types, quantities, dates, and locations of applications.
  • Professionally communicate with clients, supervisors, or team members regarding project plans and progress.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to chemical application and environmental safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or licenses are strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of herbicide application methods, equipment, and safety practices.
  • General mechanical skills and knowledge. Truck and trailer maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to read and follow product labels, maps, and technical instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions and lift equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required).

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in herbicide application, landscaping, agriculture, or a related field.
  • Certification / License in pesticide or herbicide application (state-specific).
  • Houston Area Safety Council- Safety Essentials course
  • Basic understanding of GPS technology for mapping and tracking applications.

Work Environment:

  • Possibly work and stay out of town Monday 6am through Friday 3PM. Lodging provided and weekly food per diem.
  • Outdoor fieldwork with exposure to varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • Use of protective equipment, including gloves, masks, and goggles, as necessary.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
