Essential Job Summary:

The Entry-Level B Welder is responsible for performing basic welding and repair tasks on steel waste containers and compactors. This position focuses on structural reinforcement, minor fabrication, and the restoration of worn or damaged units under supervision. The B Welder must be reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
  • Perform MIG welding, stick welding and torch cutting on steel containers and compactors following basic repair instructions.
  • Assist in structural repairs such as lid attachment, bottom plate patching, caster bracket welding, and frame reinforcement.
  • Grind and clean welds to ensure proper finish and functionality.
  • Operate hand tools and basic fabrication equipment under supervision.
  • Support the team in container inspections and identification of weld-related defects.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and welding procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist in equipment maintenance.
  • Report any material shortages, damaged equipment, or safety hazards to supervisor promptly.
  • Document completed repairs and work performed when required.
  • Assist senior welders or fabricators on more complex builds as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Basic MIG welding, stick welding and torch cutting experience or completion of a welding training program.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions, work orders, or simple repair sketches.
  • Understanding of basic hand and power tools used in metal repair.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy parts, standing, bending, and working in indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work well with others.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship at all times.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required.
  • Working outdoors and in a shop environment.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, grinding dust, noise, and heavy materials is expected.
  • PPE including welding hood, gloves, boots, and eye protection will be provided and required at all times.
