Job description

Faulkner University is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the Police Officer Candidate Pool. A Police Officer will serve as entry-level personnel for the Faulkner University Police Department (FPD). Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.

These are full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time, 12-month positions.

Applications will be accepted continuously throughout the year.

Summary of Duties:

  • Conduct foot patrols and provide a security presence for buildings/property owned and operated by the university
  • Respond to calls for service from students, staff, faculty and visitors
  • Conduct accident reports, accident investigations, traffic enforcement
  • Secure buildings as required by operating procedure
  • Enforce all University policies and procedures, state laws and local municipal ordinances
  • Complete reports, documents and forms

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate required
  • Active Peace Officer Certification with the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) required
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening; be 21 years of age or older; possess a valid driver's license; and have no prior felony convictions or misdemeanors involving force or moral turpitude
  • Must be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Must be able to pass firearms, pepper spray and taser certification test as required by APOSTC
  • Sworn Officers are required to obtain 12 hours of continuing law enforcement education annually
  • May be required to work first, second, and third shift as well as weekends and holidays
  • Active members of the churches of Christ will be given priority consideration
