Job description

SMMA is seeking a recent architecture graduate or a 0 to 2-year experienced design professional to join our practice within our architecture discipline in our Cambridge, MA office. This role is ideal for someone focused on supporting planning, design, and documentation of architectural projects.


The Architecture (Entry-Level) role provides exposure to all phases of the architectural process while developing proficiency with firm standards, tools, and workflows. This team member would contribute to design and technical solutions under the guidance of licensed architects and are encouraged to actively pursue architectural registration as part of their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist with conceptual design, programming, and space planning efforts.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials, including drawings, physical models, and reports.
  • Support the development of schematic and design development drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal architectural and engineering team members.
  • Incorporate consultant information into project models and drawing sets.

  • Support collaboration by keeping deliverables organized and accurate.
  • Conduct research on building materials, products, codes, and regulations.
  • Support sustainability and building performance studies.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Professional degree; Master's degree preferred
  • 0-2 years professional experience
  • In pursuit of Architectural licensure; LEED, WELL, or other sustainable accreditations a plus
  • Familiar with a BIM-centered workflow and other common and novel digital design and management tools
  • Capable of building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Committed to pursuing excellence in written, visual, and verbal communication
  • Flexible, proactive, and optimistic

The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000.
