Role: Accounting Assistant

Location: Loveland, CO - In-office

Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000 / year based on experience

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to support financial operations for a local non-profit organization. This is an entry-level, developmental role designed to build foundational accounting skills through hands-on experience, with a clear path toward advancement into an Accountant position. Strong customer service skills and a collaborative mindset are essential, as this role works regularly with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable inboxes, responding to requests or routing them to the appropriate party
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status
  • Review Positive Pay items
  • Record deposits made directly to the bank
  • Reconcile recorded deposits to deposits received
  • Post journal entries and file appropriate supporting documentation as needed
  • Reconcile bank accounts, ensuring alignment with financial records
  • Collect and file financial support documents
  • Assist in the preparation of program workpapers
  • Review loan balances and ensure they are accurately reflected on financial statements
  • Support internal and external stakeholders including auditors and investors with documentation, reporting, and general accounting assistance
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial operations and internal controls
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal colleagues through open communication and a collaborative approach

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; candidates on track to graduate within one year will be considered
  • Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and fund accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; Yardi experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
