Job description

We are seeking an Enterprise Data Governance Analyst to support the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) enterprise Data Program by advancing data quality, governance, and stewardship practices across the organization. This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring the successful candidate toย  report to an office three days per week.ย 

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, client-focused data professional to help shape enterprise data governance within one of the nation's leading transportation agencies. Working directly with business leaders and data stewards, you'll serve as a trusted advisor, helping organizations strengthen data management practices, improve data quality, and build a culture of data stewardship that supports better business decisions.

What you will be challenged to do
  • Partner with business divisions to strengthen enterprise data governance and stewardship practices
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, helping improve data quality and organizational data literacy
  • Guide business teams through structured data governance processes while building long-term relationships
  • Facilitate collaboration across technical and business teams to support enterprise data quality initiatives
  • Help establish sustainable data management practices that improve organizational decision-making and operational effectiveness
In this capacity you will be responsible for the following
  • Serving as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for assigned business divisions, guiding data stewards through governance initiatives and stewardship activities
  • Leading regular meetings with stakeholders to establish priorities, review progress, and ensure successful completion of governance deliverables
  • Coaching business users on data stewardship principles, data quality concepts, governance processes, and best practices
  • Assisting stakeholders in developing and maintaining data dictionaries, business rules, scoping documentation, and other governance artifacts
  • Preparing datasets for enterprise data quality measurement within the organization's data governance platform
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and system owners to identify and resolve data quality issues
  • Supporting enterprise data governance initiatives by promoting standardized processes, consistent documentation, and effective stewardship practices
  • Facilitating communication between business divisions and the enterprise Data Program to ensure alignment with governance priorities
  • Supporting organizational data literacy initiatives through training, workshops, and one-on-one coaching
  • Maintaining organized documentation and ensuring stewardship activities are completed in accordance with established governance frameworks
What you will bring to our firm
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience supporting enterprise data management, data quality, or data governance initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience serving as the primary client or stakeholder contact, managing relationships and driving successful project outcomes
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data stewardship, metadata management, and data quality practices
  • Experience developing data dictionaries, business rules, business glossaries, or related governance documentation
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working in enterprise data governance, master data management, or business-facing data management roles
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Collibra or other enterprise data governance platforms
  • Familiarity with transportation data, infrastructure asset management, or public sector environments
  • Experience supporting enterprise data quality initiatives or governance programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
ย Compensation:The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000.
