Job description

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

APEX Tool Group’s Dayton team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineering Intern to support our Product Engineering Team. This internship offers hands-on experience in product design, engineering documentation, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing environment.

The Build (Responsibilities)
  • Product Design: Utilize CAD software (Creo preferred; SolidWorks acceptable) to develop part and tool designs, create 3D models, and generate engineering drawings.
  • Engineering Documentation: Maintain and update engineering models, drawings, product data sheets, and design history documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and marketing to support product development initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
  • Education: Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software required (Creo and/or SolidWorks preferred); approximately 3+ years of CAD experience desired.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with 3D printing technologies is a plus.
  • Professional Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
