About This Role
Textron Systems Weapon Systems is looking for an experienced Engineering Drawing Checker to support a major US Air Force Program and emerging programs.
Responsibilities
  • To ensure the quality of the Technical Product Documentation by ensuring that all drawings are produced in accordance with both published national/international standards, and company design standards in a timely fashion in line with program release schedule.
  • Contribute to the identification of any identified technical shortcomings and recommend/propose solutions
  • Check and approve engineering drawings from the points of view of; technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes
  • Check and approve tolerance stack analyses for technical completeness and correctness
  • Assist Program Engineers with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis skills across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities where required
  • Manage checking request log, quickly adjusting to changing priorities of multiple design teams
  • Ownership of program review checklists to track approved formatting and notifying design team of common findings

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a design/manufacturing/inspection environment which required the use and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage one's own workload and time
  • Experience of:
    • Engineering drawing authoring or checking within a mechanical design environment
    • Working within an environment of continuous and rapid technical change
  • A thorough technical understanding of mechanical engineering drawing principles, including (but not limited to):
    • Fundamentals such as projection angles, line types, view types, dimensioning methods, title block and change block information
    • Different drawing types and their usages.
    • Theory and application of GD&T
  • A thorough technical understanding of relevant industry-standard Technical Product Documentation (TPD) standards
    • Working understanding of ASME Y14.5-2009 with a focus on understanding the fundamental differences that exist between Y14.5 & ISO GPS with the ability to spot subtle ASME vs ISO nuances in engineering drawings
  • Sound documentation capabilities and thus experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for example
  • Active security clearance preferred, ability to obtain a clearance required.
