Base Pay Range: $82,245 - $116,000 USD
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Position Summary
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing (Operations) Engineering team, supporting production operations at our Brooklyn Park, MN facility.
You will be a strong contributing member in our collaborative environment while also finding a good amount of autonomy to drive improvements. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing the output of ongoing manufacturing operations as well as supporting new product launches and transfers.
This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

What You'll Be Doing
  • Participate with post-product launch teams to address production manufacturability, cost, and yield issues
  • Provide line support daily (or as needed) to assigned lines for yield improvement, trouble shooting, and other activities to meet organizational objectives.
  • Create labor estimates, time standards, assembly drawings, routings, and procedural documentation
  • Research and identify new production technologies to support cost and quality initiatives
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve various manufacturing processes by using knowledge of product fabrication, assembly, design, materials, tooling, and feedback from equipment vendors and operators
  • Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE), Gage R&R, and equipment and process qualification for system control and optimization
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair operations for manufacturing equipment
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement manufacturing processes improvements
  • Recommend, lead and participate on projects to meet Hoshin goals and business needs.
  • Coordinate new production line startups within the facility and support transfers of existing production cells to other facilities
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow of manual processes, and propose/implement solutions to increase safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, DFM, and DFA techniques to improve work processes and ensure sustainable results
  • Perform quality and efficiency gap root-cause analysis

Required
  • BS degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Demonstrated track record of applying engineering problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in PTC ProE, Creo or other similar solid modeling tools
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (i.e., creating graphs and charts, using formulas, creating V-look ups, and filtering information)
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively to multiple stakeholder groups (management, operations employees) with presentations, data, training and other communications to meet objectives
  • Able to travel occasionally to our manufacturing facilities in South Dakota, and possibly Mexico

Preferred
  • Experience with sensor, safety, or lighting products
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Equipment and automation specification, as well as deployment
  • Experience with assembly techniques including soldering, insert molding, epoxy encapsulation, ultrasonic welding and heat staking and adhesive dispense
  • Fixture conceptualization and design
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement skills
  • DOE, FMEA, and Gage R&R
