Job description

About Airloom Energy
Airloom Energy is building the next era of resilient, utility-scale power. Our patented wind generation system replaces massive traditional turbines with a low-profile, roller-coaster-style track that uses small, adjustable wings to capture wind energy more efficiently, at lower cost, and in a fraction of the time. By dramatically reducing parts, mass, and construction timelines, Airloom is unlocking faster, more scalable clean energy deployment-designed to respect the land, the views, and the communities we serve. With headquarters in Laramie, Wyoming and a pilot system underway near Rock River, we're assembling a team to help bring this breakthrough technology to global scale.
Position/Company Value Proposition:
You will use your expertise in mechanical engineering principles and experience designing complex systems for aerospace and industrial applications to be a leader in the design of a utility-scale plant to demonstrate the scalability and cost effectiveness of Airloom's novel approach to wind energy generation.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the aerospace or industrial sector
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, including mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machine design
  • Deep understanding of allowables, materials (metallics and composites), boundary conditions, and margin associated with tools like FEA and CFD
  • Metallics - complex design using 4XXX, 4XX, A572, A36, steels as well as 2024, 6061 and 7075 aluminum
  • Composites - complex design with fiberglass and carbon fiber lamina and laminate
  • Bonding - complex design principles for injection and surface structural bonding
  • Fasteners - Detailed fastener analysis techniques for highly loaded slip-critical joint design
  • Fatigue and Ultimate - Complex design and verification methods at system-level (vehicle-level) for fatigue, stiffness, and ultimate strength driven design. Detailed understanding of margins and allowables required.
  • Deep understanding of fabrication and V&V testing to resolve tolerances and margins to requirements
  • Trusted network of supply chain for metallics, composites, and assemblies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with aerospace or industrial standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, ASTM, ISO, ASME, SAE, FAA)

Position Duties:
