Under general supervision, the Employee Relations Specialist I serves as a support to leaders and HR partners, providing general guidance on employee relations matters to ensure a fair, consistent, and legally compliant workplace. Supports investigations, manages high-risk and sensitive cases, and plays a role in shaping employee relations strategy, policies, and practices. The position requires the ability to balance business needs with employee experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports employee relations, advising managers and HR partners on performance management, disciplinary actions, workplace conduct, attendance, and corrective action.
  • Works with higher level Generalists and Specialists to support investigations, including allegations related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ethics violations, and policy breaches.
  • Conduct thorough, timely, and impartial investigations; gather and analyze facts; document findings; and recommend appropriate outcomes and corrective actions.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment practices across the organization.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and HR leadership on escalated matters, litigation holds, agency charges, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on conflict resolution, difficult conversations, and effective people management practices.
  • Support organizational change initiatives (e.g., restructures, reductions in force) by providing employee relations guidance and risk assessment.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case documentation and ensure compliance with record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • This position requires 1 - 2 years' experience in employee relations, human resources, or labor relations, with demonstrated experience handling complex investigations.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, FMLA).
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, objectivity, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication, interviewing, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence and partner effectively with leaders at all levels.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed, or multi-location environments preferred.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree plus in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Professional certifications are a plus.
Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
