Overview: Nexus HR is seeking an Emergency Department Director for a reputable acute-care hospital and integrated community health provider serving Wilson County and the surrounding rural region.
About the Job
The Emergency Department Director position is structured to be accountable for Emergency Department operational outcomes, clinical resource management, workforce development, and patient service quality for the shifts worked.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily Emergency Department operations and staffing efficiency.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality patient care and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Lead staff performance management, coaching, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and competency validation for ED staff.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow, throughput, and patient experience.
  • Manage resource utilization, staffing mix, and departmental productivity measures.
  • Support fiscal oversight, supply management, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Promote strong team culture, accountability, and communication across the department.
  • Represent the organization at community events as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Current Texas RN license required.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience or ED leadership/managerial/directorship experience.
  • Knowledge of ED triage, acuity systems, ESI levels, and staffing/scheduling processes.
  • Experience with staff training, employee evaluations, and onboarding support.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and EMR systems.
