Job description

Have you always been fascinated with the Emergency Department at a hospital? Have you thought about going into Emergency Medicine or working in some other capacity in the Emergency Department? If so, you should consider volunteering in the Emergency Department at Children's of Alabama!
Our volunteers in the Emergency Department help create a friendly, caring, and supportive atmosphere for our patients and families visiting. Volunteers must always be friendly and willing to engage with patients, families, guests, and staff. Volunteers will help hand out activities to patients in our waiting area, as well as keep the area clean and sanitized. They will also escort patients and families back to the exam rooms and orient the patients and families to the room to help them feel comfortable. Volunteers assist with delivering care and activity items for patients and families in the exam areas. They will restock, organize, and clean various items to reduce the risk of contamination. Our Emergency Department Volunteers are essential in providing excellent customer service to enhance the patient experience. This volunteer position can be very rewarding. Emergency Department Training Session is mandatory before beginning.
